Summer is a time to explore new places and enjoy areas that have something different to offer you than the typical Orange County experience. If you’re looking to vacate the Orange County area with your motorcycle or ATV for an off-road getaway, consider the following off-road vacation ideas.
Southern California Mountains and Canyons
There are a variety of mountainous areas that are fun to explore with your ATV or motorcycle. There’s Alamo Mountain near Frazier Park, Arroyo Salado Low Hills next to the Ocotillo Wells off-road area, and Ballinger Canyon. Closer to San Diego are Lark Canyon and Corral Canyon. If you plan to go into a canyon this summer, be sure you take lots of water.
If an off-road vacation sounds ideal to you, Southern California has lots to offer you. You can explore mountain trails like San Jacinto, Butler Peak Snow Slide Road, Holcomb Valley Road, Lytle Creek Ridge Road, Monument Road, Red Hill Truck Trail, Sawmill Ridge Road, the Santa Rosa Truck Trail, and Thomas Mountain Trail.
Off-Road Getaways: Lakes
If you’re looking for a way to cool off this summer and avoid the crowds at the beach, take your ATV or motorcycle over to some of the lakes in the Southern California area. Big Bear Lake offers some fantastic trails that go through the mountains, while Lake Arrowhead, Brewer Lake, Mirror Lake, Green Valley Lake, Edison Lake, Red Lake, Swamp Lake, and Hume Lake are some other great places to explore if you’ve never been there before.
